  1. I thought that - isn't it one of those express jobs with no/limited stops?

  3. The 26 is a standard stopping service from Hackney Wick to Waterloo. It
runs via Bank, Mansion House, St Pauls, Fleet St, Aldwych and then over
    to Waterloo.

There are no Red Arrow buses from Liverpool St anymore. There used to be
the 502 via St Pauls and Fleet St and the 505 via Old St, Clerkenwell
and Holborn but they both went years ago.

  5. No one forced you to read it. Just put me in your killfile and then
    you'll be happy.

I don't run a killfile. And if I did, you'd not be in it. Actually I did
have a killfile once (bozo bin I think it is called on here) and found
that I was in it so couldn't see any of my own posts.

IME, it's almost certain if you're travelling on it between 9am and 6pm.

  8. If you're too cheap to use the toll road, that might be true.

I travel up there every other week or so from Bedford to
Manc/Liverpool and its rare its taken much more than 3 hours.

Simon, If you can get to bedford before 8 I'm happy to give you a lift
to either Manc, Liverpool or somewhere you can get a train from.

The toll road goes the wrong way for me.

Plus there's the almost permanent queue of traffic from the A556 link
road junction all the way to Birmingham.

I've been caught in traffic several times doing the run from here to
Manchester (and back) on Saturdays recently.

Toll road? I'd have to go south to use that.

IME the M6 flows freely going north from Stoke on Trent, which is where
I'd join it. It's not even that bad on weekdays.

I reckon M1, A50, M6 would be pretty much clear all day long.

  12. I'd agree on that, I used to use that as an alternative route quite a lot.

    Enfield Town.

I'm not driving it, 'cos I don't fancy trying to arrange parking for
the Jeep from tomorrow morning until Monday night.

yes, I could. "Old broken feet" (AKA Angie) couldn't.
well, yes, but I'm going to Waterloo to catch the Eurostar to Brussels
for a weekend break, and fully intend to be pissed on the way back.

  15. Fair enough. In that case, I'd say the 26 bus.

It depends on the time of day.The M6 north of Stoke stops at the same
places every day of the week during peak hours so all you have to do
is be somewhere else during peak hours.
