How long d'you reckon it'd take on the tube from Liverpool Street to
Waterloo early-ish (circa 8am) on a Saturday morning?

Journey Planner reckon's 34 minutes, which seems excessive to me.

  4. Quicker by bus - there's an express one from LS to Waterloo, as I recall.
Oh. Wait. I see the problem. You've got engineering works and closures.
    Yeah, take the 26 bus.

Tube to Bank and then Waterloo and City.
    W&C 1st train 0805 on Sat.

5 mins to walk to tube and get tickets
    5 mins wait for train
    3 min journey
    5 min interchange
    10 min wait for train
    3 min journey
    5 min walk to platform

= 34 minutes If the Drain is actually running.

    2 min run to tube
    0 wait
    3 min journey
    2 min run interchange
    0 wait
    3 min journey
    2 min run

= 12 mins If the Drain is actually running.

Your choice - how lucky do you feel today:)

"bus". Hah. I think I'll just take a cab the whole way from Enfield
Town, as I've also noticed One appear to have cancelled the 6:53 (and
6:23 is a bit early and 7:23 a bit late).

  8. Heh. Me, I'd drive it, I can't abide the Tube or those evil bendy busses.
Erm.... can't you change at Tottenham Hale or summat for the Northern Line?
    (Where are you starting from?)

I'm doing a journey up north tomorrow which involves three changes, and three
train companies I've never heard of. And probably one of those Leyland
National buses on roller skates that seems to pass for a "train" in the
    north.

"I may be some time ..."

**** you, OrangeBoy. 2.3 miles - you could walk that in 30 minutes,
even on your stumpy little leggies.

Break a habit - get a bike out of the garage, ffs. 5 minutes
travelling, tops - even at your speed.

Who are they? You know you can go first class on GNER KX - Glasgow for
about £30 if you book ahead so probably less if you're only going to York.

If you're going pleb class you can upgrade for £10 (might be £15 for
journeys past Donny) - worth it alone for the free WiFi.

Marketed as Pacers; known to us as Burger Vans.

    Without doubt.

So they can sit on the M6 all day staring at someone else's rear number

Take the tube from Liverpool St. to St. Paul's, then walk the rest via
    the Millennium bridge.

  19. You seem to have already fallen across all the problems.

W&C line is closed Saturdays for the rest of the year so no good.

If you insist on going into Liverpool St I would actually take the 26
bus from there to Waterloo. Nowhere near as slow as you might imagine.
Otherwise Central Line then Northern Line at Tottenham Court Road.

Otherwise train to Seven Sisters then Vic Line then cross platform to
the Bakerloo at Oxford St. Other less convenient changes are to the
Northern at Warren St or the Jubilee Line at Green Park.

HTH but I expect you'll slum it in a taxi.

  20. Good thought, but St Paul's is shut on Saturday.
