Was chatting to someone at work about racing and got talking about the old
days... when I started watching GPs it was the Schwantz/Rainey era. I got
thinking about buying one of the review video/DVDs for that time, but I'm
not sure. Was the racing really that good? Or am I blinded by the memory
of it being the first racing I got into. If it was indeed the excitement
I recall, what year was the best for closest racing?

Switters emerged from their own little world to say
I remember that Alex Barros was the Sete Gibernau of that era. He led
several races on the Suzuki only to crash near the end.

IIRC 1987, the year Gardner won was a good one. But the best racing has to
be when Schwantz, Rainey & Doohan were all on the track. 3 factory teams
desperate for glory 1990-3. I can't remember which was the best year
    though.

Not in the 500s but the year, 1993, that Harada beat Cadalora to the 250
title was one of my favourites too.

    Old Days? Schwantz/Rainey?
    Bollocks. Thats modern!!
The old days is Read v Agostini
or at a push Roberts v Sheene.

GP Riders were men back then.
Except Sheene who was always a fucking girl

It seems there's a plague that's sweeping through all forms of motor-sport
    these days though.
One team/rider (or driver) runs away with the championship with the
occasional challenge from someone who gets kind of close.
But you know the challenge is going fizzle out soon : Rossi & Gibernau or
Alonso in MotoGP & Raikonnen in Formula 1
Don't know what you have to do to stop it..

    ..
    I didn't mean that did I?
What I meant to say was:
    Rossi & Gibernau in MotoGP
Alonso & Raikonnen in Formula 1

I recall Cadalora consistently plating mind games with the rest of the
field, waving them through so that he could have some fun and then beat
    them to the line.

I'm reliably informed by Fiona, who follows F1, that once McLaren give
Raikonen a reliable car Alonso will be toast.

I feel that Rossi will be given a real run for his money in the next few
years by the likes of Melandri and perhaps Heydon.

Any more pearls of wisdom, or are you going to continue making yourself
look a twat in front of a global audience?

  15. I liked some of his stuff.

Totally ripped off by his agent. Left him with nothing so the story
    goes.

  16. If this was correctly punctuated and without strange or initials or
    acronyms, I might understand it.
Ah, this is supposed to be funny, is it?

Using dictionary definitions to provie a point is another example of
obtuseness. You ought to be able to do it unaided.

You've got a lot to learn.

Verdigris emerged from their own little world to say
They'll have the extra incentive of Pedrosa coming in too. Especially
Hayden who will have to work extra hard as Repsol will be keen to have a
    Spanish rider as their no.1

In recent testing Pedrosa was 1sec. off the pace but almost as fast as
    Gibernau on the Ducati.
