I for one, am glad to see the return of that time-honoured UKRM
    insult. Long may it continue.

  4. You were lucky then. The bit at Bank was running but much of the rest
    out East was not.

Has all the gory details - including the poor sod who got his head
chopped off when he threw himself under a Bakerloo Line train.

  6. Simple answer - part of which Eddie has already pre-empted.

    a) I'm really crap at maintaining friendships and I don't like phones so
    I don't call / text people. That's someone I've grown up with and I've
not really got an excuse for.
    b) people rarely call me anyway for anything - that has been the case
for a long time even for people who are friends and even when I did keep
my mobile on. That's just a fact.
    c) I'm highly independent and just do my own thing. Call it midlife
crisis or whatever but what that character trait has resulted in now is
    loneliness.

I'm making some small steps to try to correct the lack of contact -
before I have the "utter twaddle" reply from someone.

I fully accept I am more than 50% to "blame" for the issue here. I think
people just assume "oh that's Paul he always copes. He's posting to ukrm
/ going to work / popping down the road / delete as applicable. He'd let
us know if there was anything wrong." Hence no communication.

I've no issue with the rest of your logical statement - I'm just saying
    it as I see it.

  7. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Paul Corfield
The delays were just too much for him.

    Sounds very familiar, to me.

I understand fully, I guess we're like two peas in a pod. :)

That said, when my brother tried to ring me the other day, the number
for me on his 'phone began "0171...", which shows how long it is since
    he last rang me.

well, when I said "use the tube" I meant "got the tube one stop from
Liverpool St. to Bank". But really, it was fine - hardly a wait for
the train and it wasn't particularly crowded, either way. This was
    about 9:20 and 3:30 respectively.
looking at that though, the times I used the service where the only
    times it was working.
