    Yes.

I read the book a few years ago and thought it was very good. Gives a
real insight into why El Che became a revolutionary from training as a
    doctor.

Rather famously. It was this trip that gave the impetus to his political
beliefs; before he witnessed the inequality of South America he was like
anyone else looning about on motorcycles.

ISTR on one trip, suffering from diarrhoea, he shat out of a window onto
    a corrugated iron roof.

In the morning, he found that the owner of the house had been storing
    his fruit crop there...

No doubt he would have fitted in on ukrm.

Indeedy. It was a *Norton* which carried him and his mate round South
    America.

If it was one of the old Notron singles it might well have been capable

A bike which is easy to maintain in the field is a distinct advantage in
places like South America I'd reckon.

Well his was well bodged together using bits of whatever was lying
about. Trainee doctor wasn't a very well paid occupation in Argentina
back then, and genuine Norton spares would have been a bit thin on the
    ground as well.

Still, good enough to get him most of the way round the continent until
it finaly broke it's headstock in a crash and El Che had to leave it
    behind

    Wonder where it is now.

Well, Wolfgang Evers 920cc Commando does 140mph unfaired.

El Che's bog stock old ES2 about 70.

A well screwed together ES2 with the weight pared down can hit 95 or so
in road going trim, more with race ratios in the gearbox.

http://www.basicbikes.com has a good example which was bought by a racer
in Germany. Won the first race he entered it in when the throttle stuck
    wide open :))
