    Hello dear.

Just before the French run while you, Jackie and Co were outside The
House we were having a brief conversation relating to clothing and we
were speaking of motorcycle jacket quality.

You mentioned a couple of brands to me, but I cannot remember them.
You don't happen to remember which brands they were, do you?

    Thanks.

    Thanks!

After a search on Froogle & Kelkoo for Belstaff stuff, but it seems
very rare and there isn't much of a range. Perhaps I'm looking in the
    wrong places.

Can you think of anywhere online that lists a decent range?

In case you haven't found it,
    http://www.belstaff.net/belstaff_english/index_reseller.html lists the
resellers, & you can see the full range on there too.

    BGN says...
Belstaff are no longer trading. They haven't been a company as such in
the UK for many years, they sold out to an Italian firm a long time ago
and they've ceased production. Phoenix Distribution were the importers,
but they no longer have any stocksform what I can gather. Phoenix - who
are also the UK's Arai importers - have also recently ceased being the
Shark importers and laid off 8 staff for some reason. KBC Helmets laid
off 7 staff a few weeks ago too.

It's not all sweetness and light in the bike clothing/helmets trade.

So what's all the Belstaff leathers stuff I see in dealers then? some
of it, the Montana IIRC, looked very nice.

    That explains it.

Now I'm back in search of a quality jacket.

I was going to just buy an Python 2 again (Black/Red this time) but
just grabbed a cheap Apollo for now) but I thought I'd consider my
options. It seems that jacket branding is very much a personal thing.
The same thing with anything motorcycle related.

Well I love my Spidi if you want another option. More features than you
can shake a stick at, still waterproof & looks good as new after 5+
years, warm as toast with the lining in, hard CE armour, waterproof
    pockets etc etc.

It wasn't cheap though, & I got it in Andorra so don't even know if
it's available here. It hasn't got a 'name' in it anywhere, so bugger
knows which model it is, but definitely worth looking at as a brand.

I know peeps have slagged off my late Pyton 2, but IMO, it was a
decent textile jacket. I didn't realise how many features it had
    until I bought a lower-spec jacket.

Sure, the arm on it was fucked, but I did bounce, roll and skid to a
halt on that side arm, and I had left the velcro on that wrist slack
(I remember thinking as I walked out of the office "that's not tight"
but I didn't bother to adjust it - we learn from our mistakes, eh?) so
when I skidded on it (the wrong way) the sleve just rolled up.

And after the ambulance crew finished chopping up the rest there was
nothing all that wrong with it apart from it having more than its fair
share of mud - and if I washed it I'm sure it'd look reasonable still.

As Lozzo said at the time, textiles only have to survive on the road
for a very, very short time before it turns into the ether. And
considering I'm not the lightest of people, I think that jacket did a
bloody good job. Some scarring and some gravel rash is all I have to
    show for that 'binning.'

    FFS, I'm preaching again.

    Bering.

I've crashed in it 'some' and it's survived it's also warm and waterproof.
