It's worth that much if it is a genuine 1 owner and immaculate one.
They really are a proper *classic* bike in the true sense of the word.
I'd have loved it a few years back, but have no need or want of an LC
    at the moment.

    Agreed.

In all seriousness, that sort of nonsense is not to be encouraged. I can see
from the unenlarged photos that it's not perfect. It'd have to be out of the
crate for me to even consider it at that money, 1.2k tops. Some dick will
    buy it though..

You're having a laugh. Have you seen the prices of 350LCs now? Where
did you get the idea that it's not perfect then, from what I see it
looks pretty much all there? It still has the original rear mudguard,
unscuffed silencers etc. It may not be worth that much in a lot of
folk's eyes, but it's pretty much correct as far as current values go.

I remember when Tillstons in 'Boro were knocking them out for £695 OTR
brand new. If only I'd had £695...

I bought a 6 month old red/white one for 400 quid back in 1982. The
bloke was desperate for some cash, so I offered silly money and he
snatched my hand off. I should have offered 250 quid, he told me later
he'd have taken that for it.

Lumme.. You're right, but only because you're not the only one who thinks
that way. Prices are sublime and dependent on customer perception. I could
get a decent one for a grand. Where? Not bloody ebay, that's for sure.

Anyway, a TZR/RGV/RS/NSR 250 would show it a clean pair of heels for less. I
saw an RD400 that I nearly bought when browsing for my current bike a year
ago, priced at £1100 and immaculate. If you must have a "classic", surely
    that's the way to go?

If people buy, they will sell.

Mooching around in the dyno place today somewhere between the 'on
sale' JR replica K3 and the K5 that a punter had left there to get the
suspension uprated, sat an RD 500 YPVS... a bit new for Loz but at
only £3400 thats pocket money for the lad.

I know i'm right, they are a highly regarded bike and worthy of their
current classic status and fetch bloody good money if original and
immaculate or restored. You won't get a decent 4L0 350LC for a grand,
believe me, unless you know of one of which the owner has no idea of
its value. You find them every now and then, but very very rarely.
That's not the point. Any modern 500 will show a clean pair of heels to
a DBD34 Gold Star, but I'd love to own one[1] purely because they were
the epitome of the classic cafe racer.
BTDT, GTTS, 29 times over. Brilliant as the RD400 may have been, the
350LC was better in all respects. I say this being one of the world's
    biggest fans of the RD400.
    Duh.

  12. Have you seen the other stuff he's flogging? - a FS1E, RD500, RD250,
Benelli 250, Ducati Senna.. All seem highly priced to me but then I
know nothing about these bikes. Wibble flip diibble do.

I don't like the RD500LC. I always prefered the RG500, which is strange
for me cos I don't usually like Suzuki 2-strokes. I can't afford one
    anyway.

The Senna is overpriced, the rest of them seem reasonable enough.

There's a bloke I know whose wife only allows him to buy spare parts
and build them into bikes, then insists he sells them.

    There you go.

Thanks, Duh indeed, I won't be one of the fools queueing up to relive my
    youth with a sticky powervalve.

Anyway, the upshot is, you're exactly right [1], which means I am getting on
a bit now, which, by proxy, means I may end up posting here more
frequently. I never thought it would come to this..

Heh, I only say because he used to be famed for his trashing of ludicrous
bike prices. But I now realise it's now and not then.. Maybe those little
firecrackers *are* worth some money now. Anyway, I stand corrected and told.

Nah, dunno who that was. Tongue firmly not in cheek, it was just a kneejerk
when I saw the price of the RD.. Hence the "I'm getting old" stuff..
