don't know about that place, but there is an Indian place around the
corner from the Meridien Etoile that actually does nearly-authentic
tasting "english" curry. In fact, I'll probably be eating there this
    coming Wednesday evening.

It's called "Mar Goa" 7, r Waldeck Rousseau, 75017 Paris

It's just around the corner from the James Joyce "irish pub" if that
    helps.

there's more than one JJ in Paris, you know - it's the one at Porte
    Maillot.

The "British District"? Please say it is so, please. It would make my

Yeahbut the _17_ in 75017 sorta gave it away. There's only one that I

I've absolutely no idea how location codes work in Paris.

Give the curry place a go if you're around - obviously it's not as hot
as curry you'd get in Bradford, but the dishes on the menu are
recognisable by both appearance and description i.e. order a Chicken
Jalfrezi and that's pretty much what you'll get, and when I ordered a
Vindaloo, the english-speaking waiter asked me if I wanted it "local
spicy" or "proper spicy"; the "proper spicy" ended up around what I'd
call "madras strength", so overall a result for Paris.

It's like a snail's shell. Start in the centre at the 1st Arrondisement
and start spiralling out clockwise. The 17th is in the NW and finishes
with the 20th in the East.
Ta, I'll give it a crack some time.

Heh, in your dreams. As it goes, even if there was/is a British
district, I a) don't know where it is and b) wouldn't go there.

It'd be like going to Spain and hanging around in Malaga with all the
other English tourists in the English bars/restaurants/etc.

Proper cheap too! It was very similar to a UK curry house in terms of
the dishes on the menu, but it just tasted so darn good, it was untrue.
Just like our own stuff in appearance and spicy-ness, but much better
tasting. Plus, I was sat outside on a lovely warm and sunny evening at
a table on the pavement with a glass of red, watching the world go by -
it was just a top time all round. Hurrah for business trips (excluding
the ones to remote one-horse towns in Bavaria).

  12. Especially since the taste buds are essentially just dumbed-down smell
    receptors.
