MV Agusta Brutale 750S : any good?

I've just seen one IRL, and kinda fallen in love with the looks.

Utterly fantastic bikes if you like to make the engine work for its
money (i.e. not a lot of grunt, but plenty of oomph). The 910 has more
bottom end it that's a concern.

Beware residuals though - the new 989 & 1078 Brutales should be making
an appearance in the spring. Now is possibly not a good time to buy a
750 or 910 if you can wait a few months.

    <thinks>

Cherokee, Tiger, & now an MV. You're stalking me aren't you.

    I'm looking at buying 2nd hand; 2004 750Ss are between 5Kand 6K - do
you think 2nd hand 750s will drop further after the new models come
    out?

In any case, I'm going to be changing in July, so the knock-on effect
if there is one should have kicked in.
well, the Tiger will be replaced, rather than joined by whatever I buy
in July, and the Cherokee's going on eBay in a week or so.

They sound quite cheeky too, iirc.

well, this one was parked, so I didn't hear it. but having done a
quick google, the sound is frequently mentioned.

Also, and quite amazingly, for a piece of Italian exotica, they also
seemed to be rated very highly for build quality and reliability!

I'd say it's fairly likely, but...
that is probably true. If you get one a little earlier (i.e. before the
1st July), there's still a space or two left on the MV tour if you're
    interested.
My 955 & Cherokee will also be going this year, so I guess it's my turn
    to follow you.

The only thing to be concerned about is the rear wheel bearing. If the
hub clamp bolts have been over-tightened, the bearing will get fucked
in no time. Either way, the bearing & seals should be replaced at least
every 15k miles. Needless to say MV want you to buy a complete hub
assembly, but BSL sell all the parts for about 30 quid.

I really, really don't, you know.

I mean, imagine being saddled with a moniker like "Preston".

The former's a distinct possibility as J wants one - although it'll be
    her buying it, not me.

I'm currently doing a darsy about what to replace the Jeep with.
Current possibilities are a diesel Cherokee, 2.8 SWB Pajero - or
    something completely different.

    <fx: thinks>

are you saying I have a woman's car?
I've driven a 2.8 SWB Pajero (well, a 2006 Shogun, but WTF). It was
fucking dire, in almost every way.

If I were buying another ute, I'd probably by a Warrior.

Understandable. I do rock in every conceivable way[1].

It's just an MX5 with a lid. So yes.
Excellent - Pajero it is then.
I'd have a Navarra if the budget allowed. But it doesn't.

oh, now that's clearly stinky bait - apart from some design
aesthetics, the MX5 and RX8 have next to nothing in common.
honestly - the interior was plasticky, the controls seemed all subtly
in the wrong place, and it handled like a "pissed pig on a tea
trolley"[(c) B.Bear c. 2001]. Or maybe it was just 'cos I was drunk.
    fair enough.

Stinky, & surrounded by loud sirens & huge flashing lights, yet still
    effective. Marvellous.
Yebbut they *look* nice, & importantly, they're one of the [very] few
diesel 4x4s available for under 3k with an autobox.
