Where pop charts are concerned, scatalogical jokes aside, it's a good
rule of thumb to ignore the number 1s and focus on the number 2s.
I'm sure it was ever thus, and it always will be.

Though, having said that, I find it a little bizarre that the only place
I ever saw Public Enemy live was the TOTP studio at TVC. That Lisa
Snowdon's pelvis don't half stick out, you know.

    Did it bollocks.

the usually quoted year is 1974, but bands like the MC5 who were very
punk-like were around from the early '60s.

Where "started" = burst out into the public domain, yes, it did.

  7. They have to put on half decent/ half shit to cater for "Joe public". It
ain't just aficionados that watch culture stuff.

  8. Same as now. There are a *lot* of great bands (prog, indie & rock) that
never ever make it on TV because they don't fit the mass-audience
demographic (and they don't sing love songs!).

Hopefully direct release via the internet will help them succeed.
