Paging French residents - track day insurance

I have the chance to go to a Voxan Club de France track day at the
Charade circuit in the summer. So far as I can tell, the regulations say
I must have insurance to cover me and the bike when on the track, which
will be checked when signing on. It is stressed that this is not a race
or timed in any way, but I am sure Auntie Carole would not approve.
According to the info, if your normal French policy does not cover you
(but it gives the impression most will), you can get the necessary
    cover.

When I did a 'discovery day' at Mas du Clos last year nobody said
anything about insurance until I signed on. As I always carry my
documents with me when abroad I showed them my UK insurance certificate
and was allowed to ride. As I was in the 'touring' group I didn't worry
to much about it and everything was OK.

Quite prepared to take the risk of dropping it, but slightly concerned
that if I do it in front of someone else and bring them off, or someone
comes off in front of me and I hit them, that the organisers will expect
the other rider to claim against my insurance.

Anyone out there who can clarify the position - is this usual for 'track
days' in France? Note this is not track day organised by a UK set up,
but very much a French run affair.

Sorry, can't help. I've never had the opportunity to do a track day in
    France.
