Aria are doing 20'' Dell 2001FP 1600x1200 TFT monitors for £279 + VAT
(£327). If you're interested in a good dual-headed system, two of those
    would be excellent!

Dell sell them for £550 inc.

  2. But Aria are absolute cunts of the highest order should you have any
problem or require competent customer service.

I've bought absolutely bucket loads of stuff from them, and when I've
required a return they sorted it out without any trouble. I guess I've just
been lucky (or you've been unlucky).

  4. I bought my daughter a new monitor for Christmas, duly arrived 10 days
or so before and she took it back still boxed to University in
January. The screen keeps blanking out and won't restore when it
should[1]. After I contacted the useless tossers they decided that
since I had it more than 2 weeks they wouldn't replace and I needed to
    contact some 3rd party.

In an effort to get the bloody shonky thing working Melissa made a
number of attempts to get hold of the 3rd party repairers. Who either
referred her back to Aria, declined to answer the phone etc[2].

It's in the hands of Barclaycard at the moment but they're being
useless tossers and will be chased up next week[3][5]. There customer
service when a problem arises has also been piss poor, in direct
contrast to Halifax who in similar circumstances last year refunded my
    money directly.

Having had a few problems over time with Internet retailers and IMO
it's getting worse I am where ever it's possible buying more complex
stuff locally even if it's a tad more expensive. That way if there's a
need to feel shouty I can pop over at the busiest time of the day to
    do so.

[1] Her house mates TFT monitor works fine on her computer and the POS
from Aria misbehaves on my PC.
[2] Melissa described it as like trying to have a conversation with
retarded chimps, but with the chimps having a mancurian accent.
[3] I cancelled my Barclaycard in the '80s because they were such
wankers, I really shouldn't have gone back to them last year.[4]
[4] Chasing interest free - mea culpa
[5] In my defence I've been short of tuits to chase this, in the
process of buying another house so out of the country for that and for
    work.

The "2 weeks" thing sounds reasonable to me. I'd have checked it as
soon as it arrived. Having said that you have a right to a
refund/exchange if the product isn't of merchentable quality within a
reasonable period of time (unstated but use common sense) [1]
Consumer rights : Your guarantee is with the supplier, not the
manufacturer, no matter what the shop says. So many fuckers try this
one on, and everyone is within their rights to tell the supplier/shop
to do the "phoning the manufacturers helpline" crap.
Who? Barclaycard (that I can understand perfectly, Barclays are the
worst bank I've ever had the misfortune to use), or Aria?

[2] Ah, so Aria, apart from telling you to go to the manufacturers, are
    OK, and BC are cunts?

[1] No this isn't a direct quote, but my memory of what I read about a
month ago whilst looking these things up to hit Comet over the head
with about a knackered Fridge Freezer.
[2] Note to self : read footnotes first.
