    Hmmm,

I'm amazed at the bold attempt at sucking me in:

British army DPM breathable Jacket and trousers 37.95ukp Reasonable.

Then you click on the link and it turns out that the trousers are
37.95ukp and the jacket is 69.95ukp.

  3. Yeah, that is a bit misleading. At least the jacket has a magazine
pocket to keep your copy of Penthouse dry.

I was seriously interested in the US army Gore-Tex ECWES Parka for
£69.95. I had my credit card all ready and then noticed the shitters
only have it in a medium. Same for the Soldier 95 DPM Gore-Tex trousers
for £29.95; Good VFM but out of bloody stock. I'm going to give them a
phone this week to see about ordering and when they'll get some more in.

I meant to mention that to you yesterday. There are other places ...
oh, I see you've found one of them ...
There's a bunch of "ishop" outdoor/surplus online shops that all carry
similar gear - watch out for the postage though. Compare them all,
look out for those that sell in blocks of ten units only, and check
their postage rates carefully before ordering.

  5. You mean there's more?!
    Ah, right.
Good call. Thanks for that, that isn't something I thought of.

  7. If you liked that, click on some more, they all do it :)

It gives you an idea of what's about though and the vast differences in
    the prices.

I still haven't worked out what DPM is (sounds like something sexual to
me) and I can only guess that soldier 95 means that the pattern on the
    garment was issued in 1995.

Oh, then there's BDU as well...

Gah! Too much clickery on someone's cheap server, I guess.
Arse. Don't you hate it when the url you quote goes titsup.com?
Huge price differences. Huge differences in gradings, too - I
wouldn't bother with anything but unissued or "Super Grade" kit, tbh.

If you keep looking about you can pick up some serious bargains on new
kit, though - my (current issue) British Army Pro boots came to me for
42 quid, against a retail of ~120. They are the most comfortable big
boot I've ever worn and took minimal breaking-in - a big difference
from the used German Para boots I used to use in Winter.

The Pro boots are lined with GoreTex, Cambrelle and Thinsulate
materials. They don't get hot and sweaty in Summer and keep the old
tootsies warm in the cold weather we've had so far this year. They're
waterproof (obv, GoreTex) and the water - resistant leather is holding
up fairly well to scuffage, although they would never pass muster on a
    parade ground.

    Definitively - Disruptive Pattern Material.

Just about any camouflage-patterned cloth, then.

  12. Ah, thanks for that; an easy to understand description...

I could really get into this stuff. The only problem I can see is that
while it's all good and functional stuff, and cheap to boot, you might
just get branded a weirdo by the locals and be first on the list of
suspects if there's a murder in the area.

And this would be a problem, or different from normal for you - how?
This, I admit, may be a slight disadvantage.
