If you're on this forum, I'd like to ask you about your yellow and
black Guzzi Centauro. I saw it at Moto Meccanica. I really like it...;>)

Well DAMN, Lusty. You really know who to take the wind out of guy's
sails, don't you? LOL! OK, so I'll have to look elsewhere.
But if I may...how long have you had it? How many miles? Done any mods?
Had any *expensive* problems with it? Is it as easy to work on as a
regular 2 valve motor? Any problems with parts/accessories? I'd like to
outfit one with a set of hard bags and a decent screen, while not
    detracting from it's gorgeous looks.
Knowing what you know, would you buy another?
Finally, would you jump on her and take her for a multi-day ride to
areas where Guzzi dealers/techs are few and far between?

    TIA, OFG...

Great, Lusty, thanks for the info! I was looking at your website and
really like the pics of it. The one I saw up at Moto Meccanica is
identical. I'm thinking of getting a big two-up touring machine next
year, (probably a Wing), but I do not want to give up a Guzzi to do it.
I'm thinking of trading my Cal-Special for a lowe[er] mileage Centauro
    one o'dees days.
Any input on the difference in the few years they were made? I hear the
'97 was a little less comfortable than the later version, different
    seating/bars positions I think?

  5. Have you tried Moto International? http://www.motointernational.com
They are pretty much the premier US Guzzi dealer, and have literally
written the book on maintaining Guzzis. Dave usually has a bunch of
new-old stock on hand and will likely have a better answer for you than
    'It's Italian! *shrug*'

I've pretty much given up on my local dealers for either Ducati or
Guzzi when there are competent shops out there that have what I need
without excuses and can do web/mailorder without a hassle or excessive
    nagging.

Moto International is an excellent source. They pretty much have had
anything I couldn't find elsewhere. As for local Bay Area shops, the
one I use consistantely now is Moto Meccanica in Santa Rosa. They've
always been square with me, and the owner is a Guzziphile from way
back. A lot of dealers who carry Guzzis are just not that into them,
and have them as an afterthought. Not Jason and crew at M.M. They seem
to really like(and KNOW) the brand, falts and all.

Lusty, I'll have to agree with Chris. Moto International is the place
to go if you're looking for parts. Chances are, they even have your
tach. In speaking with a couple of dealers, Moto Meccanica in
particular, the story seems to be that Guzzi has been, or is in the
process of, moving ALL their US inventory from Georgia to N.Y. state
where the new N.A. HQ's are. "Eventually", all US bound parts will be
shipped to and held in N.Y. and readily available for immediate
shippment. That's the plan, at least...and IMO it will mean a world of
difference for their future in the US if they pull it off.
