Fazer 1000 well overdue for 20K service... with couple of little probs
pointed out on dropping off. Namely, rattle (assumed valves) and ocaisional
1/2 secondloss of power when traveling at speed. Power comes back on,
accompanied by huge backfire. Its exactly as if I had hit the kill switch
and then popped it back on...

Anyhow, upon service, get the call with the magic word "But..". in it.
Apparently one of the cables running to the EXUP valve has broken, causing
said rattle. New cables come in pairs and cost 90 notes.

So cables replaced, rattle gone. But on first chunk of motorway riding,
exactly the same thing happens- total loss of power for half a second, huge
    backfire.

Now is this likely to be the EXUP valve still being knackered or would it be
impossible for a fucked exup valve to cause these symptoms?...

As is obvious, I know **** all about spannering....

Wouldn't have thought so. It sounds more ignition related. Sidestand switch
or loose wire somewhere would be my bet.
