Paging electronic types at work

  1. I need a set of diodes for my duff alternator
    3 off 1N1186-ND and 3 off 1186R-ND, or equivalents.
They're rated 35Amps in a chassis stud mount.
    Case is DO-203AB, DO-5, Stud
Anyone got a source for these, as cheap as possible?

This is an American supplier, and if I can't find them here at a decent
price I might just have to order them from abroad.

What's the difference between the two? A quick glance at the specs
doesn't reveal anything obvious but I'm almost certainly missing
something. You can get a straight 1N1186 from RS Components for about
    £2.73

  4. I was unaware of Digi-Key Ireland, thanks for that - they look ideal.
I'm sick of being pissed around by breakers who want a ton for a 20 yr
old alternator, simply because they're getting a bit unusual now. A ton,
then testing it and quite possibly having to rebuild it anyway, no
thanks. Any other Jap alternator of this size is going for 30~50quid
    around here.
I've already spent some money on new brushes and new reg (the old reg
was defective, but it was masking a dud diode or two) so will remove
this alt and repair it myself. In the normal course of events, I'd have
slung the old one and put on a 90A Bosch I have lying around, but the
brake vacuum pump is on the back of the Toyota alternator and this
    complicates things.

  5. One's forward, one's reverse, to enable mounting on two seperate plates,
    fitted in the alternator body.
See here, what I'm on about...

Yeah, if you buy 250 of the little fuckers.
Plus, they have the cheek to charge extra because they're kept in a
shoebox in a shed in the Utter Hebrides, cunts.

Their website was often down for maintenance - but I haven't ordered from
    them for months.

Note the part number with the full suffix letters you quoted gives 0
results, the base part number gets a page with a few you can chose the exact
    right one from.

I didn't check that page, but most part listings include the full PDF
datasheet you can right click and save.

  10. Cheers, but no worries if not easily available; as Mark pointed out,
Digi-Key Ireland is figuratively just up the road and their prices are
ok. What threw me was the apparent lack of them on my usual hunting
    sites.
