No Avebury for me this week. Bust my shoulder on the weekend.

And the latest in the sudden glut of uk.r.m. injuries ...

You clumsy Kraut ****. How did you manage that, then - playing in
goal when lacrossing, were you? I can just imagine the racquet
becoming impaled on the spiked helmet would give your shoulder a nasty
    wrench.

hehehe, not quite this way and lacrosse season doesn't start for
another two month really. Nope, was umpiring a baseball game when
a fairly well thrown pitched was foultipped right between my mask
and the chest-protector on the collar-bone. Very painful, although
I finished both games before riding home and tending to it with some
ice. Couldn't find anyone to kiss it better though. :-(

In similar circumstances I made the purchase of the century this
weekend. When I got up on Sunday morning, packing everything for
the two games, I couldn't find my box. I was going to go without
as I was already running late. On the way out of Oxford decided
spontaneously to stop at World of Sports, the pikey sports store
in central Oxford, and purchased a cricket box for £1.19.

About 10 pitches after I got hit on the shoulder a fastball hit the
batsman, got deflected and went straight up my groin. I don't think
I ever made a better buy.

    No worries :)

Looks like it's going to be raining anyway. Possibly.

Take my advice... get an all-over body box, looks like you'll need
    it... ;-)

I don't think it would stop him.

Wasn't it you that was paranoid about riding in the rain 'in case you
had a crash'? If so, was it raining when you crashed?

You're a bit fragile for a big strapping sporting feller, you know.
You want to take it a bit easy, mate. Before you snap ;-)
Any box in a storm, eh?

Shame you were wearing it on your head ...
Would Sir be recommending the pine overcoat, perhaps?

As already commented in this thread, the head is already covered.
Such a contraption may be slightly unwieldy though.

Don't know, considering for how long I've been doing various kinds
of sport I think I have an extremely low tally of injuries.
And then usually only ones which heal completely.
    Well, where else?

Not at all - I've never said I was paranoid about crashing in the rain.

I have said I prefer to not ride in it given the choice, but I'm more than
comfortable with my abilities in wet and dry should rain arrive.

Considering I have no _necessity_ to ride to Avebury, other than as a 'fun'
thing to do, I don't really see why I should be obliged to venture out
should it turn out to be pissing with rain and blowing a gale.

    I think it's called "choice".

And whilst I'm here and you're winding me in.. I didn't crash - I was hit.
