talking of which... lovely little trip on the wing it
was...(hint,hint) hope your head is ok now after the 'head butting the
    agricultural machinery' incident..

    IbW #48 is all yours.
    Seems fine, Ta for asking.

My shoulders hurt like hell, as it 'appens. Well, actually the muscles
that go sort of under the collar bone.

I fought the Dnepr and the Dnepr won.

It's *all* wrong: you accelerate[1], and it veers to the left, so you
panic, and shut the throttle, and it's then backing off to the right,
with the bars fighting all the time in an attempt to point in several
    directions at once.

Utterly terrifying, and I doubt I hit 20mph at any point.

I'm not sure whether to admire Mr Smiff for riding it all the way
home, or to apply to have him sectioned for his own safety.

I still can't believe that it's newer than the Wing.

[1] For very limited values of accelerate.

I can just imagine you explaining those injuries to Linda :)

It takes a while to get the appropriate responses sorted out. I began to
appreciate that on the way home.
When the header went west within 100 yards of the pub, I contemplated
getting the thing recovered. But it was going well, the noise was amusing,
and I was starting to get the hang of chucking it about.
    But not heavier.
It gets off the line with reasonable alacrity if you whack the throttle full
    open.

True. Hard to believe, when they're seen side by side. 70kg takes a
fair bit of hiding. Honda managed it.
I wouldn't whack the throttle open on that thing unless I was on
    drugs.

No, it generally applies the snips, leaving only the relevant parts.
This simple method avoids the dog's breakfast that results from adding
your single line to an existing post, which together with several
added extraneous empty lines, means that you don't expand a 52-line
post to a 65-line post as a twat would.

Oh, sorry - you already did that.

I did. I quite liked the way the frame and chair twisted in opposite
    directions.

Wild ride baby, now to make it faster.

And nicely taken, Sir. Bloody well batted.

On another, but associated, point - have you any idea why your
newsreader appears to be inserting blank lines, interposed between
those quoted in your replies? This has been raised before but afaik
no answer was forthcoming, and I'm just curious.

  10. Looks like he's using a jolly old version of Thunderbird (v0.8 which was
billed as "a technology preview, may explode in your face and run off
with your wife, kids and life savings" kinda-thing). The current version
is 1.0.2. I have no idea if it fixes that particular bug or not, but
I'd hazard a guess that it does.

I'm thinking of molishing a 2-into-1 pipe to replace the missing pipe and
the frankly very scabby remaining pipe. This will mean a lot of cutting up
of old pipes and some teach-yourself-welding, but the improved efficiency
should render the old heap capable of dragging fivers out of a
    sheep-farmer's wallet.

It's a 34 bhp motor, how strong do you want it?

  16. The new version is still inserting extra blank lines. Dunno whether
there's a setting you can tweak or whether "they all do that, sir".

Oh well, it's not exactly the most important thing in the world. Just
keep your head down and look innocent if you see the carriage-return
    police in your mirrors...
