    wisdom:
But it's fucking pissing down here atm.

I really am in a quandary. I want to take my bike but if I do, that
means I can't bring my camping chair and other stuff that I could get in
the car (like food), it means I'll have to bring wet weather gear (just
in case) and it also means I won't be able to use my mobile phone
charger I've just bought and it also means I won't be able to use my
    phone while I'm driving.

Yes, dear. Not very nice here either.
    Go here:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/whereilive/yourarea/

and enter "Launceston" (without the quotes, obviouisly) and see the
    five-day forecast.

Either stick your bike in the back of the car or do what I'm doing -
buy a bike while you're down there ;-)

3 days are sunny next week, as is Blisland.
That raises the problem of getting the car back, then.

    Btw, CIHAGM?

    "Here" being London I presume.

Well, down here (South Devon/Cornwall border) we had lots of rain last
night, but now it's cleared up. The roads were wet this morning, but now
they are dry and the sun is breaking through. All the forecasts are for a
nice high to dominate for next week, so things are looking up.
Given that half the fucking country are down here at the moment, the bike
will be quicker getting *anywhere*[1] if you intend doing day trips. Plus
if the others on bikes go out for a run, you'll be whinging.
Can't get a signal half the time anyway[2], so who cares? You'll be on
holiday, leave the phone at home.

[1] Actually it's not *that* bad, and is worst at the weekends.
[2] It's not that bad either.

    Faaaakin' Townies.
    Excellent.

Well, that's it. We're off imminently, so hey-ho for Kernow, Klotted
    Kream and Krazy Golf!

See you stay-at-homes in ten days - why don't you pop over and see us,
    Mr. Switters?

Still very wet here. The thing is all the stuff I need to take. I simply
can't get it all on my bike.
Hmm. That must be why London seems quieter atm. Half the fucking country
    That's a good point.
It's for that paranoid breakdown[1] moment.

    [1] Mechanical.

    I see.
    Thanks.

I have the solution. Grab a works lorry, bung everything you need in the
back, including the bike, head for the M4, and Bob's your uncle.
Leave it on when you're travelling, turn it off when you get to the
    campsite?

I tried that one last week. I wanted to take a load of food down there
and they said I'd have more chance of a heart attack.
I've just been to Halfords and will be giving the car a mini service in
a minute. Hopefully I won't need to call the recovery but why do I feel
like I'll break down without my phone? It never bothered me before.

    Anyway, tremendous idea, sir.
