Looks like the music critics are ramping things up a notch:

I quite liked them. At least when I was an angry 13 year-old anyway.

Part of me still is an angry 13-year-old. It's even angrier now.

    RIP Darrell Abbott.

Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Bear
According to the BBC Website, they are unknown and likely to remain that
way. The assailant was shot dead by a cop. He may have been shouting
something about the guitarist being responsible for splitting Pantera
up, but it was a tad noisy apparently.

So, I think we'll file this one under "Septic Gun Nuts (Miscellaneous)".

The Only Pantera I've heard of was the De Tomaso version, and the one I
    drove was shit.

He was a septic; he had a gun. That's about all that's certain.

Unconfirmed eyewitness reports suggest the killer blamed Darrell for
breaking up Pantera. They were just a band; one I liked, but just a
band nevertheless, as ephemeral as any other. If you don't like, don't
listen. It's not exactly a genre which gets difficult-to-avoid
    high-rotation airplay.

I think part of everyone still is. That part of me, along with the
80's kitsch metal part, has just got tickets for Motley Crue next
    year.

Conversation a mate's boss had with his Mum, after buying a De Tomaso
Pantera to commute from Docklands to Russell Square:

    "It's not very practical"
    "That's why I bought it"

Still enjoyable because it is just so pure 80's rock with all the
campness that goes with it. It's like The Darkness but real.

  18. One of my current favourite words, along with esoteric.

I get a lot of opportunities to use both at work these days. :S

Hmmm. I've just come into possession of, oh, just over three grand,
courtesy of RSS and the insurers of the bloke that knocked me off my
bike last year. I smell a plan.
