You may find, if your car has them, that the heat shields behind the disks
have deformed slightly to touch the disks.
The juddering may also just be fucked pads so it;s the opportunity for some
    nice EBC alternatives.
I've had both those problems and was greatly relieved it wasn't a huge
    wallet hit.

Hiring an airfield for the day is so much more fun. You can **** around
playing silly buggers to your heart's content, change the track layout
when you're bored of it, have 'who can do the fastest J-turn'[1]
    competitions etc etc.

[1] Although my mate did trash the gearbox in his 325i doing that.

didn't stop you lapping me (you ****) on the 7th lap of our last
    session. You ****. ;-) Still, I suppose that means you're only 14%
    faster than me.

Seriously, all "I'm crap"/"rubbish tyres" excuses aside, I would say
your car /is/ faster than mine - on the few times I was just behind
you on the straights, my RX would simple not accelerate fast enough to
keep up with you (as in, I'd hit the rev limiter in a given gear, and
you were still pulling away). I guess torque counts more than power in
    some situations.

    <checks specs[1]>

Same power, BMW's 150Kg heavier, but has nearly 50% more torque. Yeah I
    imagine that would help.

    [1] Assuming yours is the 231ps RX8

don't get me wrong - Champ is definitely a faster/more agressive
    driver than I am.

It doesn't bother me - I was there to enjoy driving round the track,
people being faster than me wasn't a problem (and there were a fair
few slower than me too). The thing that bothered me most was how crap
my (Kumho) road tyres were in a track situation - they were shit -
braking hard before corners had both the ABS coming on /and/ the tyres
squealing - that can't be right, can it? Also, by the afternoon, the
car was effectively drifting on me on corners, all four tyres
chirping, without me wanting this to be the case, and at least 4 times
the back end slid out on me on the entrance to the faster curves, and
the front chirrupping/understeering on the hard-braking entrances to
    the first hairpin.
    yup.

It doesn't take much abuse to kill normal road tyres. Even the more
track biased Toyos I used on the porker would start complaining after a
couple of sessions & be toast by the end of the day[1].

The ones on the MX5 lasted a bit longer, no doubt due to (much) fewer
power. It was important to do a cooling down lap though, as I
discovered the hard way when I drove off & left a large lump of tread
    stuck to the tarmac.

[1] Which was a bit spendy, being 245s on the rear & 225s on the front.

Track days will compromise a set of eye wateringly expensive P Zero Rossos,
so a couple of hours of fun can add up to over £1000.

A certain Porsche dealer is forever impressed that I took a C4 for an
overnight test drive and (so sadly) trashed the tyres doing "a couple of
evening laps of a well known road race circuit". Otherwise known as a Club
circuit track evening to impress the lovely Carrie (as passenger).

I did buy it but they had to fit new tyres and pads.

And she was notably grateful.... easily worth a set of Pirellis

as I said, I am not claiming the tyre issues/less torque in the car as
the main reasons you were faster than me - you're just faster than me!

I enjoyed the day - mostly - I wasn't there to prove to anyone
(including myself) that I am a fast car driver, it was just for the
    halibut.

Interesting to meet your non-ukrm mates - the scooby guy was pretty
cool (for a heavily modified scooby owner) though the big bloke who
kept showing people pictures of his 9 year old daughter with her first
training bra was ... well ... a dick.

Well I never, I'd always thought they were FWD. Who'd have thought
Darsy would have enough good taste to buy a proper vehicle?

How else could he do this:

Yeah, it's a ginge but worth a re-post. I thought it was an RX8, but
    it's a 7.

    Amazing what tyres will take.

How he got away without having a spanner permanently embedded in him is
beyond me. I must be getting mellow. I did snigger, openly, at his
toolbox, though - with the thick foam, all cut out for individual
tools. 3/4 of the contents must have been foam, much like his people
skills: "Carry on chappies, you load the truck, I'm off to the pub,
    hawhaw".
