Work in progress emerged from their own little world to say
a source of dodgy soft and/or hardware that has fucked over his PC by the
    sound of it

    oh, just in case, :)

  5. It was fine. Nice to get away to temperatures about 20 degrees or so
rather than bloody snow. It did dare to rain one though!

The upgrade to First Class made a pleasant start.

Unfortunately I ended up with a dodgy tummy - first time ever in HK -
which rather spoilt things for a couple of days. However the rest of
the food was great and so ludicrously cheap it's unreal. I seemed to
provide the locals with much amusement while trying to eat some
Vietnamese Spring Rolls. You have to wrap them in lettuce, add in some
herbs and then dip them. I got there in the end but not without some
very bemused expressions from around the restaurant. Still delicious
though as was the duck curry with garlic bread.

Bought far too many CDs but at about £7 rather than £13 I'm unable to
resist. The markets of Mong Kok were as crazy as ever, I went back to
Temple Street night market for the first time in years which was fine
but loaded with tourist tat. Unfortunately there were no fireworks for
New Year's Eve which meant that was a bit of a disappointment as I'd
headed over to Kowloon to see them as best as I could in amongst the
    huge throng of people.

The HK police have been equipped with Honda VFR police bikes which was
an odd sight as the visual image didn't quite match the engine note
    IYSWIM.

I also don't believe that Dodger's Wing only did 10,000 miles this year
as I am sure I saw it near my hotel with all the lights on display!
I'm daft but I'm not that daft.
These things happen. I think I simply failed to shut it down properly
before I went on holidays and something has gone wrong which is
preventing it from starting up properly.

  7. I have a minimum of 20 degrees cut off for when I escape Xmyth. It was
around 28 degrees in Egypt, but not a pleasant atmosphere.
    Jammy git :)
I was very, very sea sick on the 25th if that's any consolation.
Garlic bread is the last thing I'd expect to find in HK.
Old stuff or new? I seem to be listening to the CD equivalents of
    comfort food atm.
    Oh yes.
I don't think I'd like the huge crowds.
I saw a Virago and lots of mopeds.
Could have been the Blingmobile. Or has WUN admitted defeat on the
    bling stakes?

  9. Not sure Egypt would be my choice of destination.
    Well one tries.
There is a clear French influence in Vietnamese food.

You can eat your way round the world very easily in HK. I simply toddled
off down the road and found all sorts of great restaurants within 5-10
mins walk. I must work out how Japanese food works as there are several
places near the hotel but I'm not sure what all the different styles of
    food are.
    A mixture

Human League - rarities and remixes
Bruce Springsteen - Devils and Dust
    Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine
    Robbie Williams - Intensive Care
White Stripes - Get behind me Satan
Elbow - leaders of the free world
    Ryan Adams - 29
Ryan Adams & Cardinals - Jacksonville City Nights
Sheryl Crow - Best of compilation
    Sigur Ross - Takk
Definitely not with "GL1500" emblazoned across the back.

  10. I'll not be going back unless there are dramatic changes.

    If this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/4568340.stm had
happened before we left I wouldn't have gone.

If I'd thought about the history for a milli second..
I shall take a wander across to amazon for this.
    Excellent album.
I've got her 'when the prawn' but it never really hooked me.
Only heard the single(s?) so far, I've got the first 4 albums so no
doubt this will make an appearance at some point.
