Paging Catman

Wing Chun's obviously not a great comp sport but our lot went in for
competitions for the fun and cause of the brotherhood. I managed to capture
an old vid (I think '92/3) Here's my teacher getting knocked sparko and
getting his revenge. Also got one of myself getting knicked in the nuts but
that's not for public consumption I'm afraid.

I assume your techer is the one that tried the well respected 'block kick
with head / face' technique?

Interesting style. Did you use a toe in or toe straight basic stance?

Toe in but the style had nothing to do with what happened in comps which was
"muddle through best as possible". It's hard scoring points with techniques
designed to break a nose of snap a knee.

 

Indeed. I was just curious. I have to hazard that hands a little higher
and less bouncing may have been of service, IYSWIM.

Could points be scored by dumping the oponent on the ground? That's what I
tend to do.
