But I didn't get nicked for jumping the red light. That was DP later.

    Hmm....

If Mondeos do it then why don't other cars? Do mondeos have a "crown of
    the road" setup or something?
    Ah, cool! Will do!

    *Sigh*.

Mine might be the odd one.
There is a kind of whirring, groaning noise when slowing down and
keeping the brake applied from anything above 50 or 60.
Right. So I've been lied to about the exhaust hangers then?

No, just very soft bushes that allow the suspension to flex. This has
the effect of the suspension following the road surface.
    Very odd eh? ;-)
    Could be.
It's a distinct possibility. However, some of the cheapy exhausts
(including Ford's own budget level parts) have thinner brackets, and
they can allow the hangers to slide around.

    Right. I'll try that tomorrow.
Very odd indeed. You haven't met me yet, have you? Heh...
Who's the best person to see to get a professional and........[1]
    verified opinion on the thing.

    [1] **** me! I think something's going off outside. There's been a
tinkle of glass and a lot of Grrrrring.

Did I tell you that DP sold the Volvo because of that event? It was,
apparently, too much of a car for him to be able to exercise self
    control WRT speed control.

What! He sold it? He'd only just bought the fucking thing when I went
    round to buy the Mondeo!

I called him a **** for not giving me first refusal. I enjoyed driving
    that barge.

I didn't see you test drive it the last time but I imagine that you have
    done before.
Just some pissed up ****. Which reminds me. There was this fucking
"stairway to heaven" emanating from outside recently and some drunken
**** laying half dead outside a car. I don't know *whaT* the **** was
going on but someone from across the road spend the next twenty minutes
trying to drag (and persuade) the **** to come in with her.

Heh, it's morning now but in my defence I'm still pissed. I might go for
    a lay down...

P.S. The barge did go round corners well and I could smell the rubber
when I went through the clouds you created after going round roundabouts
    :)

No, but I've met other UKRM'ers, and I doubt that you'll seem that odd
    ;-)

    I see you've had offers :)

what's the quality of the rear tyres like, are they the same make and
type as well, check the inside wall for any splitting or weakness. Is
one of the brakes binding, check handbrake adjustment and pads.
Also check the springs make sure the 'bounce' is the same on both
    sides.

  19. In uk.rec.motorcycles, BORG amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
Don't know the quality but the nsr is half bald. It looks like it was
taken from the front that had a tracking problem. Probably just about
legal on the rest of it. NSL is perfectly serviceable and looks almost
new, same with the fronts, nsf looks almost new, osf about 2 mills left.
Brakes are fine. It rolls on the flat!
Haven't checked the pads[1] but the handbrake, depending on how hard you
want it on comes on between 6 and 8 clicks.
Short of putting my weight on the car I'm not sure how I'd test that.

[1] I need to do this though, there's a groaning noise coming from the
nsf when slowing down from anything above 50 or 60mph. There's no
grinding like you get with worn pads so it might be a bearing.

Right, I'm now going to cook myself some well deserved brunch/dinner.

    Laters :)

Jack up each wheel in turn (onto something considerably more solid than
the jack) and then have a right good go at the wheel and see if it moves
at all, any bits that move (bushes, ball joints etc) need replaced.
