The flushing loos at Reading are the worst. On Sunday the mini-moshers
arrive, and within hours the bogs have had so much toilet roll stuffed
down them they can't flush. Cue piles of paper and poo rising above
    the level of the seat.

Splash-back becomes nothing more than a happy memory.

Heh, could be interesting if the seats were facing each other, but I
was referring to the comment "make them more solid", ie rigid. [1]

My pet hate on an aircraft is some selfish fucknugget reclining their
seat /all the way back/ onto me, forcing me to take evasive action.

I've found reading a paper and draping it over the top of their seat
gets their attention, and makes the point that I can't see my feet
    anymore because of their head.

For particularly stubborn offenders, i've done much worse ....

    Cheers

    Paul.

I don't see the problem... I've done 20hour plus flights, in cattle
class with no real discomfort, even if the person in front reclines
    their seat.

TBQH, they can **** off. I've paid for my seat and the miniscule amount
of personal space they give me around it. It's the human equivalent of
    tailgating !

Well, there's not much else to amuse me on a long flight once you've
watched all the decent flicks. It's never caused air rage yet, but i'm
sure i'd be happy to tell them what I think if it came to it. [1]
    I think that's why it's called a pet hate ;)

    Cheers

    Paul.

That'd be me then. I've been asked before now[1] to not recline my
seat, but as far as I'm concerned it's tough titty. I have to put up
with it, so why should the bloke behind me not?

Of course, this is an easily resolved isue - just fork out for
    business class, you pikey ****.

You're obviously both very lucky, and yes, small. Try adding an extra
2-3 inches to your leg length and see how you get on.

If I'm penned in to a single position without being to move, my legs
feel like they're going to drop off after about an hour; hence I can
just about cope in cattle class withing Europe, but anything longer
requires a decent amount of space.

I've now even got to the point where I'll choose my route based on
which airlines have the better business class seats - the fully flat
BA ones are the best of the current crop, although several others were
planning to upgrade to similar ones. Flying back from SF in November
was the first time _ever_ that I've actually managed to sleep, as
opposed to just dozing fitfully, on an overnight flight. The
difference to jetlag/recovery time is astonishing.
Even on the worst ones, it can make the difference between
excrutiating pain or just severe discomfort.

I've never tried to sleep, but so long as it's not too frequent I can
happily miss a night's sleep out completely without feeling ill
effects.... so that's what I do.

My company flies cattle class. All of us, up to and including the CEO.
    I'm 6'2" and I can cope. It's not ideal, but it's bearable. And I
regularly do 11 hours to the US West Coast, or down to Sarf Effrika.

Of course, one of the reasons it's bearable is that I've seen the cost
of business class tickets. I quite like having a profitable company, it
    means I get paid regularly.

Ginge is 6', I believe, and I'm 5' 11". Which, while shorter than
you, is still well above average.
Aww, poor you. Ickle leggies feel like they're going to drop off, do
    they.

For what it's worth, if I get a window seat I rarely have any problem
sleeping for the whole flight (if appropriate - for long haul I always
try and run on destination time as soon as I get on the plane).

All my flying is private, funded by me, so economy is what I use. I
really don't see what there is to complain about for a few hours.
"excrutiating pain"? If being sat in a plane seat for an hour is
"excruciatong", how would you rate, say, a broken arm?

What's "average" got to do with it. I wasn't talking about any Mr.

    Broken arm's a doddle mate.

5'9" but I still concur completely. The flatbeds are spreading, thank
    gawd.

Last year heading out to E3 Expo in LA we flew Aer Lingus business,
standard reclining seats. It was the best service I've had, maybe
comparable to BA in it's heyday and excellent seats but there was still
no chance of other than 5 minute catnaps despite an endless supply of
    Warres Warrior.
