Plus each time a thread is crossposted you would get a whole bunch of people
showing up here that aren't actually subscribed to UKRM

Well, we've had nearly 2800 posters [1] since March last year and 231
that have posted over 100 posts since March last year. 1018 have only
    posted once.

[1] This doesn't count posters that use multiple posting names.

Heh, actually, I've been speaking with Sean about this and I'm in the
process of doing something like this on a web page. It won't take
long, but it's finding the time.

My plan is to have a web interface to the database, so people could
search their own stats and execute various other queries too. Once
it's (eventually) done, darsy could integrate it into ukrm.net
assuming there's enough call for it.

The only thing is, that it'd have to be on a new PC that I'm going to
bring into service [1] soon and I've got to work out a way of
transferring the database from one server to another, as I use the
Xref message number as the group index number. A new news server would
start from message number one again, with leafnode.

Actually, that's given me a couple of ideas...

[1] The stats are collected on my work linux server at the moment and
the mods I want to make to my program, mean that it would need to be
put on a server outside the firewall.

You really know how to make UKRM piss-ups sound exciting.
I might be able to help here... if you need a MySQL DB that is visible
to the world at large. Gimme a few weeks, and I'll let you know.

You don't think some people would respond to that with a series of
    frogs?
