So this here ST4S has separate low and high beam units using H1 bulbs. On
high both units are on. To date the pathetic lights are the only thing I can
take exception to. I recall from our earlier conversations that H4 twin
filament poses a few problems with HID but H1 should be simple?

    Suggestions/supplier link please?

FWIW I fitted HID H1s to my van dipped beam using a pair of fused relays.
Lower current draw than the original halogens.
Fitting HIDs to main beam could prove a problem in that they take a split
second longer to illuminate from switch on because of the "excitement" of
the lamp from the ballast, therefore an issue if you need to "Flash"
    someone.
Perhaps just converting to HID on the low beam will suffice.

I've only bought sets on eBay to be honest, they were both made in
    China.
