that's what I thought, but they haven't even offered it to me - just
told me that they'll be hiring someone in Paris to take on the role.

I, unlike Mrs WUN, ANAE but shirley a role moving to another country
is "changing". What if it was moving to Hong Kong?

erm, nothing. Worst comes to worst, I'll walk out of here with around
£40K cash. So, just need to get another job within 6-9 months or so,
and I'll be up on the deal.

If the role doesn't change then they should make the offer. They don't
have to pay for you to relocate.

Of course, in your example, they could add 'fluent Cantonese' to the
job-spec, with the reason that you'd be managing Cantonese speakers and
    then the role has changed.

I have already made the greatest contribution to the fight against climate
change that I can make: I have decided not to breed. Now quit bugging me and
go and talk to the Catholics.

Hmm... You might want to keep your powder dry on that one (assuming you
don't actually want to move to Paris?). It might come in handy after the
    fact.

    Heh.

It helps that Mrs WUN is currently between engagements, and therefore
has time to answer my questions.

    Oh great.

I had Platy dressed as Britney Spears in my head yesterday.

Now, it's you dressed as Alvin Stardust.

    Fan-fucking-tastic.

    Just over a year ago.
cheers. The irritating thing is, that if I hadn't been promoted last
year, I wouldn't be being made redundant now.

If only you could invent a time machine, you could go back & turn down
the promotion, & stop your initial from slowly disappearing.

  20. That's definite, the, is it? Redundancy? Haven't read the rest of the
    thread yet.

    <5 mins later>
