It wasn't exactly expensive, about 14 grand of your 'pounds', IIRC.
    Heh.

Must have been the driver then.
Nice reasoned argument there - I make a comparison based on personal
experience[1] and you rubbish it. Well done sir.

[1] I mean, I didn't actually race the things, but with three[2] track
sessions and about 6k miles in the 206 I think I'm in a better
position to know my own mind than you are.
[2] Might have been just two after the 'intro' day, but it was ~20
years ago, and my memory's almost as bad as yours.

It's the directness of steering, brake and throttle control, together
with the huge tyre area/weight ratio, that is similar. Of course, the
FF can easily be made to drift in a corner, but you're _way_ off mark
talking about torque steer on the 206 - I won't say it can't be
induced, but in real world driving, it's simply not an issue. It
really is _so_ much better than any other front drive I've driven.

Then again, I don't claim to be the world's expert on four-wheeled
stuff, so I'll bow to your awesome experience on the subject if it
    makes you happy ;-)

I told you I was a destructive fucker in that job. That Saab was a pile

there is some dented armco nearby.

Mercs are nice cars to be driven in, but BMW are more of a driver's

Pah - I've just said that I'd have an S-class if I had a Caterham as
well. So I wouldn't need it to be a driver's car.

It's possible that the UK models only come with the 185/55 tyres,
which are standard on the GTi. Driving in this morning I was once
again impressed by the lack of torque steer, even when really trying
to induce it. I can only put it down to the tyres.

  20. The infamous Triumph Trunnions, eh? Something Scim owners know a thing
    or two about.

More likely though, the rear supension simply dumps the car off the
    road.
