A mate of mine is looking to paint his bike in the old style Yamaha
yellow with speed block design. Do you have any idea what the UK paint
code for the yellow used on the 2006 R1 Anniversary model is please. The
colour is called Reddish Yellow Cocktail 1 - color code 251 (USA).

Would this paint code be the same for UK paint suppliers?

I can't tell you right now Loz (no code books here) but I'll check tomorrow.
Having said that, I can't imagine the paint code you've got not being Ok,
because even if it's different number over here, a good paint supplier,
specifically of bike colours, would probably have the UK alternative number.
It WILL be the same colour though. Then there's always the swatch method,
which can be more accurate than the numbers method in some cases. (Not
    engine cases though.:)
Difficult to say with any certainty, because most manufacturers of bike are
very un-forthcoming when questions are asked about paint codes. Kwaka being
the worst and Honda only supplying off the chassis/frame number. Honda can't
even tell you what colour a *sticker* with HONDA written on it will be, but
they will ONLY order them with a frame number.

I'll find out all you need to know on the morrow.

That's great. I can get the VIN of a yellow Anniversary R1 to match it
against if needed, a friend was bought one by her husband as a 40th
birthday pressie. I can always ask her.

No need Loz, here' what you need.

First of all, it's a two stage pearl, so he/she/you will need two colours,
each with a slightly different code.

    Lechler state thus:

Yam 34 (that's their own number system, so it's meaningless really) DRYC1
    variant 1 "Solid"
Yam 34 (still their own number, so still meaningless really)
    DRYC1 Variant 2 "Mica"

Lechler and ICI both produce this colour with "almost" the same code.
Lechler have the "D" included in he code (DRYC1) and ICI don't, they just
    have RYC1..

Either way, no fucker was interested in what the septic number was and both
suppliers were of the opinion that it's a 2 stage pearl, so both colours
WILL be needed and as it happens, I agree with them because I recently
painted a Thundercat and it was the same colour code.

The "Reddish Yellow Cocktail" has been a Yam colour since 1997 and nothing
specifically for the R1 is produced, be it an old one (pre 2000), or the
    later (post 2000) one's.

Btw, the solid goes on first, then tack off before applying the Mica. Then
it'll need lacquering. If you don't put the yellow solid on first, the Mica
    won't cover a THING.

You mean the one who very loudly and rudely told me to turn my phone off
when I answered it as I was waiting to sign on. I excused myself from
the call briefly and told her in a firm voice that it was a prospective
employer inviting me for an interview. She apologised and shut up.

It was actually a mate asking me to pop round and take a look at the
forks on his race 350LC, so I infomed him in a rather professional
manner that yes I could be with him on such and such a day at such and
such a time. I called him back when I got out and rearranged for me to
go straight round, he was a touch confused until I explained.

Fucking bitch. Obviously gets a stiffie (metaphorically speaking. of course)
coz she feels like she can order people about. I'd have managed to vomit had
I been in your place, all over the ****.
He probably thought you'd been at the 'shrooms or summat:)
