There's plenty like that on usenet :)
Yeah he kept it well quiet. He was posting on MC-Chassis list until a
couple of weeks before he popped off. Nary a word until afterwards.

  2. You mean he started posting from the beyond? Cool.

    <chuckle>

I think then perhaps some of the arguments got in, I only knew him over
the last couple of years on the MC-Chassis list, and he was nowhere near
as pig headed as that. Then again it's a bit hard even for Hoyt to
sustain an argument with people like Tony Foale :)

(I mostly just shut up and read the answers and asked dumb questions -
but someone had to do it :)

Shame it's not Plonker Of Obvious Fuckwits - we could call you 'Bear
    the POOF' then ;-)

Wrong, the blue has more. As well as this, it's blue no matter what
angle you look at it. On the red the graphics turn bronze when viewed
from any angle apart from sqaure on.
Never been a fan of it myself.
Ponytails, need I say any more :)

Well Hoyt was never a bloke to let someone else get the last word... <grin>

(I actually never had an argument with him, but I watched a few)

Indeed, his book on MC chassis design is bloody good. By all accounts
he's done a lot of good stuff.
Errp. I'll just shut up now then !

    See?

Or, rather, not - in your case.

  15. He did some very good spine frame kits for old 1970s/early 1980s Jap
stuff. He even did a frame kit for the Honda 400 Four, though I've never
    ever seen one.

  16. His Carbonaceous Era started when some bod asked a question about
whatever, and Hoyt gave a good answer and then ruined it by saying that
pistons should never be cleaned of carbon because it helped seal the
piston rings and raise the compression ratio.

He was citing some book written in the 1960s, I think.

I remember taking issue with him, and it went thermonuclear. Pointing
out to him that when race engines and the like were assembled, they
weren't assembled with a layer of burnt toast on the piston crown had no
    effect on him at all.....

And like I said elsehwre in this thread, the "vertically split
crankcase" thread was another gem. He utterly, completely refused to
believe that such a Honda existed, even citing "people he knew and whose
judgement he trusted" to back him up.

Then came the day when he actually saw an example of the bike we were
arguing about and conceded that it did, indeed, have crankcases split
vertically.... and his verbal contortions were a joy to behold.
