But that's for houses, according to the article[0]. What about flats?

[0] which, of course, as it's the BBC, will be absolutely accurate and
all facts will have been verified.

Actually, thanks to a few quiet words in the right places, the
Collective pay for mine directly. Doesn't half confuse things, what with
me working for the BijouxCollective[0] and the flat mate working for the
    Collective.

Anyway, the [Bijoux]Collective aren't likely to fork out for anything
*I* get nicked, are they? Not that I tend to leave owt of value in there
    - I think the most expensive thing of mine that's left there during the
day is a Sabatier knife, 'cos the provided kitchen knives were barely
    more than tin-foil thick.

    [0] I like that.

Thats nearly as good as when a certain type of combination door lock was
sold to a whole bunch of companies including dudley council. They all came
with a default code which very few people evey changed , so C245XY would get
you into any number of "secure" premises.

No, just be a PITA if I got back from work and found that the door had
been kicked in, but as long as I can get a hotel room it wouldn't be
    that much of an inconvenience.
It certainly wouldn't be the first time that an expression like that has
    been used.
Nah, they're all too busy counting they're money. And counting their
    minions, of course.

I wouldn't trust a word that bunch of cunts say but I've checked the
British Crime Survey figures and Yorkshire/Humberside does come out on top
    for reported burglaries per capita.

    Wales has the lowest rate.[1]

Note: this is reported rate. It could just be that more people in Yorkshire
are making false claims and therefore asking for a crime number....

[1] then, our capita inludes 2.8 million sheep

I don't know how well this relates to where you and Eddie have been
working, but I found it an interesting view on what I percieve is very
    much commonplace American work culture.

    Who, Endsleigh or the BBC?

I like the photo caption "Burglar breaking into house". So why the ****
didn't they stop him instead taking a photo?

Ooh, fancy that, I was going to guess 'cisco'

Have you checked to see if Timo's got an alibi? With inside knowledge
like that you should get forensics to dust for breakages or something.

With Timo - It'd somehow reach all the floors at the same time, but
you'd never be able to get out.

rb emerged from their own little world to say
Endsleigh - statistics show that a student is more likely to be mugged by
Endsleigh than any other financial institution, except Gordon Brown
    obviously.

I like that. Although when I was at uni I'm sure they were the one the
NUS kept pushing? IIRC they were the only ones to offer insurance in
shared houses. All others would only insure you if you had a locked
    door to your room.

rb emerged from their own little world to say
Only because they spend huge amounts on advertising in NUS mags & lease
    offices in NUS buildings.

Not only NUS but the Universities are at it too. They have blanket
policies with Endsleigh for Halls of Residents included in the rents.
Therefore, they inundate freshers with junk mail during their first
    year.
If you live in a shared house but have an individual lease with a
landlord then your options are limited. Endsleigh charge handsomely for
this and have a very poor record when it actually comes to settling a
    claim.

If you have a shared house with a joint tenancy then there are plenty of
other companies that will insure you. Despite the hype, students have
fairly high disposable incomes. Lots of banks etc try very hard to
establish a relationship with current and especially future cash cows.

They were very closely tied to the NUS at one point. Possibly even
a spin-off of the NUS, though IANAE.

ogden emerged from their own little world to say
Correct, although now owned by the management. Note the use of the word
    exploit...

"Founded in 1965 by the National Union of Students, the company quickly
expanded into relationships with graduates and people in professional
occupations and is now the preferred insurance supplier for a wide range
of professional organisations, including the National Association of
Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers, Association of University
Teachers and Association of Optometrists, amongst others.

In 1976 it was felt that a stronger financial base was needed to fully
exploit market opportunities and Gouda Insurance Company of the
Netherlands took an 86% share, with the NUS retaining 14%. In April
2002, the executive directors of the company, led by Managing Director
Mike Alcock, undertook a management buyout and formed a long term
strategic alliance with Zurich Financial Services."
