Heh. I've been usurped by my protege in the last few years I'm afraid.

He's currently building a VW Golf 1600 diesel rat using as few bike parts as
possible. To give you an idea, the rear tyre (largest production m/c tyre
available) has now been levered onto a Ferrari split alloy rim, which will be
driven directly from the drive shaft via a couple of UJs. All to be held
together by a home made box section frame, supported by a home made set of
    leading link forks.

Oh, and the intention is to convert it to vegetable oil once it's been proved.

Here's a pic of the tyre, standing next to his heavily modified B12 for scale.

Can't be worse than the bloated looking plastic encrusted barge it appears to
    be as standard.
    Cut'em orf.

Beauty is in the eye of the keyholder.

Sounds good, I'd like to see that run when built.

I never was into bikes while at school, only mountain bikes. Then
within a couple of months of me being 17 my best mate passed his test
and my Dad went through a mid-life crisis and bought a load of bike
mags with a view to getting a bike.

He was told no by my Mum whereas I just went out, got my licence and
    bought my FZR.
    July 28th 1996 for me.
I've got a risk taking personality which I think plays a large part.
I've slowed down a lot now though. Mainly because I know how much
    fairings cost.

  14. 6th June 1996.

and having had to check my licence I note that my SP30 expired last
October which just goes to show how fast time flies - I thought I had to
wait until this year for the points to disappear.

That B12 looks like a real beast, esp with those ammo boxes (?) for
panniers. Are there any more shots of it?

That's the kind of thing, yes!

When I said buy someone elses, I really meant I wanted a bike that
    looked like theirs.
That's the same as mine, colour and all. I could just keep the one I've
got and flog the panels, which reminds me: What do I say to the insco
when they ask if it's been modified?
    I will.
That's the kind of thing I want to do. Cut the rear end off, cut the
pipes in half and weld the remaining third onto the end bits etc.

That picture in the first link; is that basically a straight barred,
modded headlighlighted naked CBR, cos if it is... Mmmmm!

Where are you at and how long would it take bearing in mind I need some
inspiration and an idea of what will bolt on to still make it ridable
but look utterly hideous at the same time :)
With encouragement like this, I really can't wait. Fancy helping me?

That's a fortnight, to the day, after I passed my CBT and ventured
forth on a TS50. Shame it wasn't the proper licence - that was two and
    a bit years later.
