    My NS500 should be ready and raring to go in about a week's time...

    But it'll be on standard forks/swingarm/wheels etc...

    And Spondon engineering don't want to know about fitting either the RVF or
    VFR400 swingarms I have (won both on ebay by accident, but the RVF has all
    the gubbins I need with it and is obv a bit newer)

    Anyway, is that offer about assistance with the more, erm, engineering-based
    stuff still open as, tbh, I haven't got a fucking clue where to start
    (except for a bloke called Frank Daum from germany who has done it himself
    and can provide loads of detail on what to do... Trouble is it means nowt to
    me...)

    Plan is to have the beastie ready for the BOSM (although at this rate it'll
    not have any bodywork or wheels, but thats another story...)

    Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated and will be amply
    rewarded come the BOSM/EOSM/any free holidays you want in France for the
    next few years......

    Standard NS400 engine ripped apart and everything checked and replaced where
    needed with the following additions:

    Terry Shepherd barrels/heads;
    TS185 pistons;
    NS400 crank (rebuilt and balanced).

    Plus:
    ATAC chambers removed;
    standard carbs and reeds used (as recommended by Terry Shepherd, although I
    may try to get 3 MC21 carbs at a later date as they're supposed to pep it up
    even more with no additional detrimental effects);
    set of Jolly Moto expansion chambers;

    And an Ohlins rear shock to help tame it a little bit as the bike was on the
    original shock...

    All that on standard 90/90-16 front and 110/90-17 rear tyres doesn't exactly
    inspire confidence in me for the first time I try it out once it is run
    in....

    Will get all the info he can provide and pass it on.
    *Any* assistance is gratefully received, but don't put yourself out on my
    part. Newly-weds like you need your quality time...
    I think Timo volunteered for that bit.... Anyway *I* have to do the
    dangerous bit - I've got to run the 500 kit in (after all there's little
    point in getting the chassis sorted and then having to pootle round at 15mph
    and about 3000rpm is there?)

    ....bad form and all that, but I just realised that you don't need to worry
    about this still, but contrary to my other post it's Muck who has
    volunteered to take on this glorious duty... After riding a bike I've owned
    before already you'd have thought he'd know better, really, wouldn't you?

    Champ says...
    NC30 wheels aren't that hard to find because they are 18 inch, it's the
    17 inch NC35 wheels that everyone snaps up because they fit straight
    into the NC30 and give a better choice of tyres.

    I've got the NC35 front wheel[1].. the rear is proving more elusive. But
    then I've already determined that the bike is a money pit - if I have to buy
    a Marchesini or whateverbrand 17" rear then I'll just do it, tbh.

    [1] Of course I'm not having much luck getting the forks from an NC tho'....
    But I may use the temporary fix of fitting an early CBR6 front (110/80-17 I
    think) in the standard forks if the NC forks carry on eluding me.

    :) It's not often that I get to ride a bike that quickens my heart rate.

    The FZR handles lovely now, having been fitted with new head race
    bearings, and the suspension linkages stripped and greased. Still got to
    sort the forks out though, and twiddle the damping and preload down on
    the rear shock a bit.
