So, I've finally got meself a clitfone[1], and currently trying to find my
way around the thing. My first set of browsing I did was a shock to see
just how many adverts are on many sites these days.

On my computer I use adblock and no-script in Firefox to weed out the
    dross.

Can I do the same thing on the phone? I found an option to disable
javascript completely for the browser, but that's not ideal. I can also
remove all cookies, but I don't want to do that either. I'd just like a
nice simple way of managing them on a per site basis.

Also, a mate was showing me a picture on his phone, which he then sent to
me. On mine, the picture was blurry until I zoomed in or even out by just
the tiniest of amounts, then it was pin sharp. On "fit to screen" size it
    was rubbish. What's that about?

[1] HTC Desire, thanks to Mr Sweller.

You can get apps to block both website & app ads, but only if your
    phone's rooted afaik.
No idea, can't say I've noticed that on the Hero.

My Nexus S renders a low resolution version of the picture for a short time
before it manages to scale the whole image. Could it be that it's a
particularly big image and you're not waiting long enough for it to do this?

I haven't tried it yet, but Firefox is now available on Android and I
think it works with the adblock plugin.

Na, I did wonder about that as my Nikon does a similar thing, but I
waited, then I went to zoom in and it almost instantly went sharp. When I
zoomed out and let go, so it went back to "fit to screen", it went back to
    a blurry image.

No, normal banner ads at the top and sides of web pages. I guess I notice
them more because I don't see them day to day on my copmuter. It's not a
case of visiting 'those' sites either, they're everywhere.

    Heading that way myself.
Had a problem with duplicated contacts, sorted that and then found a
load of the saved contacts got mashed between the phone and the computer.
Shit searches on the phone too.

What's Sweller got to do with it?

Same 'ere. Don't think I've ever intentionally clicked on a web ad
either. It's the same with the "Sponsored link" thingies at the top of
Google search results -- by habit, I automatically scan past them to
get to the "real" search results below.

Me too, mainly because my hosts file ensures a dead link if I try to
    click them anyway.

Bizarro - went into the gallery this morning to show another friend what
I meant, and it was pin sharp at normal resolution. Dunno what the
problem was, but clearly user error.
