Are you saying you get 21 days of leave per year? Or am I missing
    something here?

  2. You missed the word extra - he gets normal leave, public holidays plus
the half day before a bank holiday skive factor PLUS 21 days extra to
"adjust" his normal hours down to what a 35 hour week would give in
total. I don't know how France runs - oh yes they spend half the time
ensuring everything is closed rather than open ;-)

I see that you have now collapsed from shock - pass the smelling salts!

Heh, spot on. The *only* downside to starting employment in France, is
that you effectively have to work for one year, before you qualify for
paid holiday. IIRC, the holidays that you're entitled to in the *next*
financial year are based on how many months you were with the company
*this* financial year. So the first year is a blank slate.

Unpaid holidays are generally the norm in the first year.

Oh, and Mr C. I did notice the half day skive factor, you bugger. :)

Blimey. And I thought I did well with 30 days leave per year. Plus all
the time I want to spend in the gym.

And how France runs. Well, it doesn't does it. It limps at best and
will be truely fucked within 15 years due to the politicians not having
the strength of character to make the hard decisions that need to be
made for the good of the country.
    Hey, I've changed[1] so I've not collapsed.

[1] Well, am in the process of changing opinions and what have you; part
of life's progression and experience teaching one stuff etc.

I was on 30 with Big Nasty. Now I just have as many as I think I can
    afford.

Petrol may be fun then :)

Oh, and my UK chip and pin worked in a petrol station (but not an auto
    pump) last month.
