I noticed on the local news that a number plate just perfect for you is
    up for auction tomorrow.

Oh, a numberplate thread - I've not noticed one of these for ages.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw a London Cab with LE51BOS on, which isn't
/quite/ there, but amused me in some small way.

Similar to the BMW coupe a mate and I saw on the M1 with a very
effeminate couple of blokes inside. Registration was FEM 180Y.

There's a plate in Swansea: FAT 130Y, last seen on a big Lexus, also in
Swansea a Fireblade with CBR 900R, which is nice.

Favouorite one was a Frontera with R 70NKA.

  6. Ha! I've seen A11 FAT on a Jag, a green one.

The bloke that drove it was fat.

  8. No, it's sad.

As is the entire personal number thing, IMHO.

The original of "Supply and Demand" had Freddie Starr playing the
villain. He drove a Jag the plate was F15T FK.

I agree, but only because they're viewed as some sort of status symbol.

In California you can choose your own plate, using up to seven
characters. Obviously it has to be unique, but the additional cost is
very small. You do see some amusing plates, especially when the DMV
    clerks don't spot British slang...

Of course, they now allow the "heart" symbol, which is a definite step
    too far.

    Quite apt, I thought.
