  1. As I will be staying at a Chalet in Switzerland for a week, and I arrive
on a Saturday I've ben told the supermarkets shut early on a Sat and don't
    open on a Sunday.
Is this true? Do I have to fast on Sunday? Suggestions would be greatly
    appreciated. Ta.

In general, yes, but there are exceptions. Specifically, shops at
airports, motorway services and railway stations are allowed to open
late and on Sundays to cater for travellers.

I've also found that shops in Ski resorts nearly always open Sundays
too, again to cater for travellers/new arrivals, so it's probably not
unreasonable to assume this will also be true in the Summer, but I
can't be certain on that latter point.
As I recall, you could do with losing a kilo or two, so yes, I'd
definitely suggest fasting on Sunday would be a good idea for you.

So you've already checked? Where you going anyway? I forget.
You IQ should have left it out, perhaps. Pity the rest of you didn't.
