So after my six year old Oxford panniers had a couple of zips go west,
and I thought I'd test this so called "Lifetime Guarantee". So the
panniers went off a couple of weeks ago, and after a ilttle bit of
"any news yet?", Friday my local Infinity handed over a brand new set
of 2004 Oxford panniers. No questions, no problem, "here you go,
couldn't fix your old ones". Actually I think they may have been lost,
but in my book Oxford have done the business.

In another six years if I need a new set, I'll probably just pay for
some new ones, companes like that need support!

FYI, the new ones have certainly got better in terms of usability:

    - Zip off portion you can use as a bum bag, or more likely just carry
around with your wallet, passport, tickets, phone etc.
    - Pockets inside the panniers to keep stuff separate
    - extra velcro straps to secure on the bike

    Cheers Oxford & Inifinity.

I sent a tank bag and a set of panniers back to Oxford, each was at
least 7 years old. They swopped them fro new stuff with no quibbles.
When packing for the BMF Show in May a pannier zip burst, I took it into
the Oxford stand and they swopped it on the spot. I'd highly recommend
Oxford Sports luggage, not just because they stick to their warranty,
but because it really is top quality.

Because they'd sorted me out with new stuff I bought a matching tail-
pack to go with new new stuff, which has come in handy on many
    occasions.

I have problems with this. If it is as top quality as folks say then
how come there are so many of the self same folks saying what a good
warranty exchange service they have? The one sort of negates the other,
    IMHO.

I sort of see what you mean, but different people use / treat their kit
differently, and I guess the thing in Oxford's favour is they don't seem to
discriminate between hard usage every day and occasional ham fisted use.

In 9 months of selling Oxford luggage, I had to send 3 items back for
replacement. When you look at that figure against the £15K plus[1] worth
of Oxford luggage I sold, then it's small potatoes

[1] HG were running a dealer promotion where the salesman with the
highest sales of Oxford kit would win a holiday in Cuba. I remember how
much I had sold because I was running 2nd in the company when I left.

I had some cheapy Oxford throw over panniers for years. They were pretty
robust; secure and waterproof until I used them on the Guzzi which had a
lower seat/higher exhausts than any of the Jap 4s I used them on
    previously.

Pretty much scrap after 50 miles.

Thinking about it the Guzzi has a very low seat. I have a 30" inside leg
and can get both feet flat on the floor.

Yup, fair point, but it was the zips that went on mine & I'm sure
Oxford just buy those in. If it had been the stiching, then I doubt
    I'd have been so happy.

    Cheers
