The subject seems to be my plan for the first part of my Wintersun ride.
I'll leave Canberra after work, and take the highways to Wagga, about 2.5
    hours travel.

Does anyone have a suggestion for cheap, bike-friendly accommodation
    in/near Wagga? Lurkers have one last opportunity to join the cavalcade;
Leon & I leaving earlyish Friday for part 2, Wagga-Mildura.

Goaty and I stayed at the William Farrer in Wagga Wagga on our way to
Brissie in 2000. Cheapish, cleanish, typical country pub accommodation.
They let us put the bikes inside the locked beer garden area (after it
    had closed).

'course it might have been tatred up since then.....

I'm hoping for Griffith by Thursday night (450km via
Goulburn-Yass-Harden-Temora-Ardlethan), then finish the trip to
    Mildura on Thursday.

I'll only be travelling in the daylight, as my incredibly feeble 6V
electrics only show the road about 10m ahead. ;-)

  4. That should be more than enough on a CT90...

    See ya there!
Surely that's enough, for the speed you'll be doing?

Are the current CT110's 12 Volt?

Jeez, compared to our usual standard, I thought that place was tarted up!

  8. Have been for several years now--I had an old 6V when I started postieing
eight years ago,but all the replacements have been 12V.
The headlight, while still crap, isn't as utterly pisspoor as a 6Vs.

Yeah, well. My Honda 1000 only shows up 10 metres further than that...

The ZZR11's light was worse than that. As a result, night riding for me
    was generally to be avoided...

You *have* replaced the pitiful 60/55W globe with a 100/80W, haven't
you? The CBR1000 alternator will cope with the extra load quite
    easily.

I can't remember if your CBR was a single or dual headlight model, the
single lights have a good big reflector that works pretty well with a
    decent wattage bulb.

The 6V headlight seems to be adequate for making me visible in the fog
(why is it always foggy around Bungendore in the morning?)

As for lighting my way, it was a good thing that the moon was still up
    and 1/4 full... ;-)

Yep, I've replaced BOTH globes with 100 watters. Made a bit of a
difference, but nothing that makes me feel comfortable riding at 100
    km/h at night.

My XJ was like that; but touch the front brake, and the headlight
    illuminated the front guard...

    Gary (pity it was black)

You didn't tatter it up? It wasn't pillaged by the Tatars?

Gary (I'll check it out, Tatars won't have an answer to a man with two Rs)

That's one good thing about my current XJ; being an N it's got the 9" round
headlight instead of the little rectangular one of the R or F.
It's quite good at night (although it still shows the mudguard when you
    brake).
