The centre will wear more than the sides _but_ it will still wear
slower than a normally inflated tire because it will run real cool.

Some people will pump the tires right up to the maximum for
fast motorway transport to save rubber for the twisties at the
far end of the trip. Do not try this if you don't understand the
trade of in grip and handling and think it's safe enough.

Why the difference? I've never heard this before and it doesn't make
sense at first blush. Can you explain?

I buy that, but unless you live in a place with lots of really curvy
roads, you will spend most of your time within 10 degrees of vertical
and that isn't going to wear much of the sidewall. I've always run my
tires on the high side, but never above the max that the tire maker
allows, and I tend to get decent mileage from both ends and good
handling. You do sacrifice a little ride, but for the most part I
    didn't find that too objectionable.

I've worn out several sets of tires and I've never seen a motorcycle
tire ever wear out first anywhere but the center of the tire.

The topic was under or over inflation, not racing.

That is my experience as well.
