    Ginge says...
Have you never used the following? "I've had enough. I've tried to be
polite, now get the **** out of my house before I deck you".

I've found it works remarkably well.

    I haven't lost my mind, it's
backed up to a floppy disc
    that's around here somewhere.

    Never.

I've used a version of that on the doorstep to somebody that didn't
    understand the word no though.

Well, at that point we weren't aware of the company's poor reputation
so, as far as we were concerned, we just had a rogue sales-weasel.

I guess the chunky gold (probably fake) Rolex oyster perpetual ought to
    have given it away.

Besides, "call the police"? I don't think so, not unless he put up a
struggle whilst being thrown out the front door.

I'm surprised you gave the guy a cheque and didn't use the tried and
tested "get the **** out before I break your jaw" approach that I
first tried on a Kirby vacuum salesman and then perfected on an
    Anglian windows ****.

Sorry but I've got this vision of you peering through the letterbox
as you tell a sales droid to **** off.

I'd have thought Wik just standing up and suggesting he leaves would
have the desired effect. It'd certainly have me fucking off sharpish.

One more month and mine goes back to them, formally and for good.

When I spoke to the dealer about a month ago, the sales manager was
doing his damndest to convince me to persevere and that all the shit
I've had with mine (granted, not as serious as yours) was a one-off,
saying, effectively that my bike was a lemon.

When he realised I was quite serious and that he could talk all he
liked, he switched tack and started trying to entice me by dropping
hints at the then unannounced 800cc bike. I was just amazed.

I pointed out that he'd clearly not been listening to me as, besides the
mechanical and finish issues I'd had, I was seeking something with more
    performance.

I said that if anything was going to interest me, it would be a K1200S
or maybe a K1200R but again, would not be seriously considering one due
to the problems they've already had with them.

That and the niggles and gripes reported in the motoring press, would he
really stand by his brand and advocate one when I could buy a secondhand
ZX12R for less than half the price of a new BMW rocketship and have it
    whoop the German bike's butt?

I was expecting him to turn the patter up a notch, but no, he couldn't
    do it. Finally.

    Sheesh.

  10. Heh.

I remember telling a double-glazing salesman: "Are you really saying
that if I don't take this offer now, and ring you up tomorrow and say
I'll have it, you won't do it at this quoted price?"

    Him: 'Yes.'

    Me: "That's just complete bollocks."

FFS... Once more, posting without an actual clue. I'd hazard a guess
that your brother rode a first-gen, pre "Evo" bike, then. Mine are
    nothing like your description.

Kirby salesman truly are tenacious bastards.

We had one in once, took me 5 hours to get him out.

It was my ex-wife who was conned into letting the **** into the house
but I'd sussed him after about 15 minutes and when he told me the
price he was shown the door. From pointing to the door it took about
another 15 minutes to get him out during which time he cried about
being paid to do the demo so even if I didn't buy the poxy thing
please could he do the full demo. He only went after being threatened
with serious violence and I nearly pissed myself when he shouted "I
know where you live" as he got into his car.

Christ, you could have had him in a hole and covered with cement in 5
    hours.

It was truly horrific, and I was apallingly polite, to my eternal shame.

They tried it on again, unfortunately they chose to phone me the morning
after my 30th birthday bash, and I was truly feeling fragile.

They got told to **** right off.

Only if you've got the cement and can easily lift a floor inside the
house. And then you've still got to worry about his car and the chance
that you're on his prospects list that went to his manager.

Far too fucking risky. What you need is a pig farm.

I don't think so, but imgine the state of the car if you let one drive
    off in it.
