My new hydraulic workbench arrived this morning. I answered the door &
was greeted with the line "Shit, I was hoping you'd be a big bloke." :)

I'm definitely not designed for carrying 123Kg packages - luckily the
    delivery driver was.

    How much?

    Where from?

    Dimensions?

How high does the ceiling need to be, for it to be locked upright,
    with a bike on it?

Heh.. I'm not a big bloke either, but I lifted a 2.25l Land Rove engine
block into the back of my 2.25l Land rover. I did suffer a bit the next
    day for that though.

£430 including VAT & postage - making it £17 more than the same one at
worldofpower. I did contemplate that one, but it's a lot extra just for
a hole to drop the wheel through, which I wouldn't need anyway. The
extra length when lowered compared to the scissor action one might have
    been a pain too.

I bought one from www.amoir.co.uk about a year ago. Excellent it is, I
don't know how the hell I survived without it, now. You need a big
    garage, though.

Luckily they were only just down the road (meriden) from me (coventry),
so i slung it in the back of the pug, tied the hatch down, and pootled home.

    They do seem a bit of a bargain. My dad's got 4 or 5 & hasn't managed
to break any of them yet either.
Can't afford, or can't justify? It's been the latter with me up til
now, but my back & knees are complaining more & more these days, so I
    though '**** it'.

Crikey - why does he need that many? And how big is his garage, FFS!?
Can't afford *and* can't justify, to be honest.

They're garage toys - what's "need" got to do with it!
The floor area's probably around twice that of an average semi-detached
house - maybe more. It's a bit hard to tell as it's partioned & full of
    bikes, racking, lathes etc.
