OTish: Leather cleaner

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Whinging Courier, Jul 9, 2004.

  1. I've just this minute taken delivery of a 3 seater settee. I got it from
"pikeyland", a second hand shop down the road.

The settee's lovely but now it's here, it needs a bloody good clean.

    Any recommendations?

It looks like accumulated filth to me, nothing that constitutes severe
staining or 'owt but I wouldn't want to sit in it in a white (if I was
    that way inclined) suit, IYKWIM.

    Cheers.

Clean it with a damp cloth - I wouldn't use a detergent, though.

Feed with Lord Sheraton's Leather Balsam - moisturises and protects the
leather (I use it a lot on the leather bits in the cages)

    (SteveH) somehow managed to post:
    ....or Renapur.

On a sofa? Blimey, you'll go through a lot.

There's an article in Bike this month that mention using baby wipes :)

Damp cloth, then saddle soap. Works a treat.

That got me. Good job I've finished my coffee.

Soap and water. Then some leather feed. [1]

I suppose for a three piece suite it might take a lot, but I use
Renapur on the car seats. It doesn't take a lot. The tub I've got is
still over half-full and I've had it, oooh, four years?
    What for?

Cleaning leathers - the oil is good for the leather or something.

Don't they sell a specific cleaning solution?

Aye, I use those to clean my visor every morning - great for removing
    dead bugs.

  12. It's only one sofa. Does Renapur clean as well? I'll Google in a minute
but water on it's own doesn't look like it'll do it and good as the baby
wipe idea sounds, I didn't particularly want to leave a greasy film on
    the leather's surface[1]
[1] Getting messy with the lady, innit.
