Cos everyone knows it'll guarantee a self-justification thread to cure their
boredom. Others just accept the accusation that they've posted some arse and
respond with a typical ukrm rejoinder [1] whereas you're so up yourself that
you go that extra kilometre just to see your name in lights. Bless you.

[1] "And that's different from everyone else how?"; "Since when is having a
point a requirement of ukrm, etc, etc, et-fucking-c.

I have an image of you now running down the street to get some cash and
then running back to the cybercafe to catch-up with the posts as quickly
as humanly possible to maintain the momentum... thought you weren't
    coming back until tonight?

  3. so your definition of 'old' is 'over 20' so, assuming you're over 20
(which is a dangerous assumption to make, not having a lot to go on),
you should have known you were getting old on or shortly after your
    20th birthday, n'est-ce pas?!

  4. No, my definition of 'old' is not over 20. It was an 'either-or', geddit?
_Either_ 'old-fashioned', _or_ young folk to old folk.

    See ?

    Oh, never mind ...

It was actually. As Claire said, not everyone here speaks French.

  7. I'm treading lightly, here, and _really_ don't want this to degenerate, but
.... does _anyone_ here not know that 'Bonjour Monsieur' is the rough
equivalent of 'Hello, Sir' ? French is (IIRC) compulsory in British
secondary schools up to the age of 13, isn't it ? By the age of 12, I
reckon that 99.99% of British people know the expression 'Bonjour,
Monsieur', even if their French _never_ goes any further.

Second question ... who _didn't_ twig that 'Hello Sir' said to someone in
his late thirties, would be behind the 'You Know You're Getting Old' ?

I would guess that the vast majority of those whose French language
education stopped during secondary school would simply recognise that as
being a polite way to greet a gentleman to whom they hadn't previously
    been introduced.

What, for about 2 years? Certainly not from primary school years, and
the actual skill level you would achieve would *obviously* be dependant
on which set you were in according to your ability for the particular
subject. Hence someone in the lower set would not be able to achieve a
lot in the learning stakes for the foreign language.

Did you know it is (or was, at least) policy not to allow a pupil to
learn another language such as German or Spanish unless they attained a
certain level of competency in French?
Because I just saw it as a greeting, and as you are not a slip of a lad
why would it mean anything specific?

Smart move. 4.60 EUR so far, and I grudge paying the cunts more than 5
EUR, so I'm off across the Seine to my favourite little studenty bar, where
the barmaid is called Laetitia, and never wears a bra.

    ****, I _love_ this place !!
