OT. Windows XP serial

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Dave Jennings, Apr 16, 2005.

  1. Where can I get one for very temp use, hypothetically?

Honestly, I genuinely have mislaid my XPSP2 cover, so have no fucking
    idea what the serial is.

I could get in touch with MS as it was supplied directly by them, and
it was registered in my name. But the Dept I have to speak to is in
    closed until Monday.

I really need this ASAP to get this particular machine up and running.
Any ideas where might be able to help?

If you have a machine that is running you could seach for and download
Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder - run it on the machine and it will tell
    you the key number...

Brilliant app. Typically though the machine I'm at right now uses XP
Pro SP1 upgraded to SP2 with the patch, so it isn't happy with the key.

I tried the original key that I had for the SP1 CD, but when that loads
it goes straight to "unmountable boot volume".

    Hey ho.

Hmm, still not getting it, keeps coming up invalid key. I assume
there's only one way to decrypt that?

Ta, MS came to the rescue. In fact, what had happened was I hadn't lost
the serial, they'd forgotten to ship it with the latest packs. All
    sorted now, ta.
