This week they have been pulling down the pub on the corner prior to building a dozen flats for wrinklies. Tuesday they took down the line of mature Leylandums that is between their garden and me. Ooh the light is soooooo different and the birds, they are right freaked out they are. Most strange. I didn't realise how much birds use land markers and react to changes in them when they are flying along but for the last two days the commuters that fly overhead to get to the rapidly maturing rape half a mile away have been treating the area like the plague and deliberately detouring about 50-100yds as they make their way. The local not-too-far-ranging population has been doing weird things as well. No wood pigeon in the dawn chorus today I noticed. There is a plague of sparrows come out of nowhere. I haven't seen so many in my garden since I lived here. I have had my very first visit from a Wren and all three blackbirds are missing. Although, to be fair, I haven't seen the hen blackbird for a few weeks now, so that may not be connected. And the light man, weird man, really really different it is.
