    1. Shit ! Over 6 grand !
    2. Only 3 bottles p/m - but quite high cost ie £20 a bottle.

    £5444.00 - HMG takes £1395.77.

Actually, though, most of mine goes on pints of beer.
If I drink in my local, I pay £2.60/pint. I could
walk a bit further to Wetherspoons and pay £1.99/pint.

According to the calculator, HMG takes £200 more because
I choose to pay more. Is the tax on the retail price or is
some of this difference taken up with less cost and profit?

Yeah, that's about it. I was only thinking of 'duty' there for
    a moment.

  9. cost and profit.

    http://www.hmce.gov.uk/about/reports/ann-report-stats.htm

For a start, duty (ie tax) is added at the brewery rather than
the pub, and are based on quantity produced (in two bands)
    and on percentage.

    In
Only fags and booze though ... I guess we would need to include petrol
    duty etc too?

I was totally honest, and It does look bad - but, an average of 3
cans of beer/lager, per night = 28 pints pw and, as I live in London the
beer is expensive: £2.80 for Stella A for instamce.

Also, due to the week days I dont drink, I can (do !) make up for it on
    the weekends.

The wine purchased is always consumed with the help of friends at dinner
    parties and over longish meals.

The cigarette intake is probably a lot less actually.

Those are my excuses and I am sticking with them :O)

My vice bill comes to £0. They haven't got any really good vices listed
    there though. :)
