    hand up.
    Bastard employer.
(Introduction of short term teaching contracts by Vic Ed Dept in the early
80s, and next thursday because of Fed gov't pressure to introduce individual
    workplace contracts in higher ed.)
I don't really think strike action is the most effective thing next week,
but better than nothing. I'll be striking, losing pay, and running make up
classes so the students don't suffer.

    Hand down.
Nope, never been in a situation where it was necessary (except once but I was exempt as I was an apprentice).
I hope I'm never called apon to shoulder the burden.

    Hand up
Been on several in the early 90's when the Kennet government closed down
over 100 schools (mine included) and seriously eroded working conditions.
Then there was a lull of nearly 10 years till I went out again in the
national day of action a few weeks ago.
(First time it ever was for pay)

No, If you are on strike and getting no results you have
to use all your resources ie. keep them legs locked together
