Completely off topic but the knowledge here never ceases
    to amaze me.

Anyone know of a reasonable prices outfit which can supply
a remote central locking fob for a Toyota car?

    Thanks
    Alan

  2. Um, no. I've owned Avensises for six years, and the only folk who can
supply the damn things are Toyota - and then you have to have it tuned in.
<sigh> So it ends up costing close on 200 quid.

  5. I am a touch sceptical on this. :) There's actually no problem if you
replace the battery, I've done that. But, a New Key has to be programmed and
it seems that Toyota, the robbing swine, are the only ones with the
    software.

On the EBay key fobs, the expensive thing was getting the key cut - so you'd
    still need to do that.

Anyone know of a reasonable prices outfit which can supply
It varies from car to car, as Toyotas have a mix of their own and
    3rd-party alarms. I have a 6th generation Celica (94-99) and I'm
unlucky enough to have a Toyota alarm in it. A replacement fob and 30
mins labour to get the car to accept it was around £110 6 months ago.
Phone up one of your local vehicle security guys; once he knows the
make / year / model, he'll tell you straight off whether he can do it
    or not.

And of course, I forgot the important bit, which is: anyone can replace
3rd-party bits but only Toyota can replace their own stuff. I had to go
    to them.
